GRUB CLUB: The Let’s Dine Out Show is proud to partner with the American Culinary Federation Southern California Inland Empire Chefs & Cooks Association to present an once in a life time dining event.

The evening features a delicious elegant 6 course meal designed and prepared by 5 of the Inland Empire’s premiere chefs.

A year ago, Victoria Rivera, 23, nearly homeless, might have received the dessert she and colleagues baked for the needy.

All day Monday, she and 11 other students at the Inland Empire Job Corps Center in San Bernardino made 100 pumpkin pies they’ll deliver today to underprivileged children, shut-ins and The Salvation Army’s local shelter.

RIVERSIDE: Students explore career, college opportunities

More than 5,000 high school students filled the Riverside Convention Center on Monday evening looking to prepare for the job market of the future.

The 7th Riverside College and Career Fair featured about 115 booths from colleges, universities, technical schools, military academies, businesses and other educational organizations providing information to students preparing for life after high school.

“I’m trying to figure out what kind of college I want to go to,” said Ryan Powers, 17, a senior at Martin Luther King High School, who was checking out the booths with his brother, Morgan Powers, 16, a junior, and friend Cayla Lowe, 16, a student at Woodcrest Christian High School in Riverside.

“I think it’s really great they have everything in one place,” said Ryan and Morgan’s mother, Diana Powers.

RCC culinary school advances to vote on building design

The Riverside Community College District board of trustees will settle on a design for a new culinary arts academy at its meeting tonight.

The district’s architect will present three options to the board for the planned three-story, 51,600-square- foot building, which also will feature district administrative offices on the top two floors. Cost estimates are $24 million.

The designs offer variations on a glass-wall feature that allows passers-by to view the interior of the restaurant where culinary students will practice their skills. The school, which will also feature classrooms and kitchens, is scheduled to open in…
